Welcome to Mens Health Week - Age Well Physio
I have worked as a physiotherapist and yoga teacher now for over 35 years. I constantly hear ‘I can't do what I used to be able to do’ from men from 40 ish upwards. Back pain, knee pain, hip pain, in fact any pain seems to become more of an issue.
Many blokes as they age, have the mental attitude of a teenager to training, but in an ageing body. So same old same old. No pain no gain. Push push push. What I would encourage is maintain the mindset, but apply it in a different way.
What you used to be able to do as a younger man, needs to be tempered with a greater understanding of how to get the best out of your ageing body. Your body will take longer to recover and this is a natural part of the ageing process. So how can you best aid your body's recovery is the question you need to be asking yourself…. and its not ten pints of lager or a bottle of red wine!

I am running a free hour long Zoom class in Mens Health Week on Wednesday 11th June @7pm, to help you understand how your nervous system plays a major role in recovery, and ways in which you can keep doing what you love doing for longer, with less pain and increased energy.
The session will involve some chalk and talk, and then some simple breathwork techniques, aligned with gentle movement, which most men I have worked with, find quite remarkable.
